Hartford County resident Alesha Cain, age 30, of Manchester, was arrested on Friday, May 7, in connection with the death of her 3-year-old son, who was found unresponsive when police responded to her home on Thanksgiving 2020, said Manchester Police Lt. Ryan Shea.
According to Shea, police found the child around 2:43 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 26, when they responded to her Oakland Street apartment.
Upon arrival, officers began resuscitative efforts on the child, and ultimately the child was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, but before the child arrived he died, Shea said.
An investigation into the circumstances to the child’s death was conducted by detectives assigned to the Investigative Services – Child Investigations Unit. Based on the investigation, a warrant was approved for Cain's arrest, he added.
Cain was arrested and charged with:
- Manslaughter
- Assault
- Risk of injury to a minor
- Cruelty to persons
She is currently being held on a $650,000 bond and will appear in court on Monday, May 10.
